She scored two goals in only eight games, helping bring the magicJack to third-place finish in the same season. MagicJack was disbanded near the close of 2011, while WPS folded early in 2012. Rapinoe played for Sydney Football Club FC in the Australian W-League for a couple games before she returned to America. Her new club was Seattle Washington Sounders Women. Now she is with the Sound FC. In 2013, Rapinoe spent her time playing soccer in France. She then joined the Seattle Reign FC now OL Reign of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL which had formed after the WPS broke up. Rapinoe was one of their top scorers, and she ultimately became captain. In 2016, she competed in her second Olympics, in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. The U.S. squad was eliminated from the event in Rio. Rapinoe's participation at the FIFA Women's World Cup began in 2011. Rapinoe's contributions enabled the U.S. Women's World Cup to claim two consecutive championships in 2015 and 2019. In 2018 she was able to assume the cocaptain role for the team. Rapinoe's two goals were part of a 4-3 United States victory against Australia during the Olympics in 2020 Tokyo. Japan, however, was delayed to 2021, until the COVID-19 epidemic had passed.
